Syrinx ‘do’

The work focuses on waviness as the base of all phenomena of the universe.
SyrinX reveals the visual aspect of  the acoustic waves.
The project displays a forest of bamboos on paper expressed through different medium: from oil to ink, to hand printing, and to elements of organic nature.
Like arms protended to visualize the sound, the seven panels pay homage to the myth of Syrinx and Pan. The greek God Pan, desperate for the loss of his beloved, was looking for her presence in the inner sound of all things, in the wind swish. The hidden Goddess is the primordial sound. The transfiguration of the nymph is represented through the visual shapes of the sound waves.  Thus the painting has been combined with the cymatic method, fixed through subtle layers of glue within the branches. Cymatics is the science that (since the ’700) studies the patterns produced by frequencies, whose aspect recalls the cellular structures of living forms. Those physical experiments which enable the pure colouring matter to get into different forms, original or manipulated, integrates the painting for an impossible wind vision. The bamboos play a role of a ’transistor’ and make the hidden sound principle visible. Pneuma in Greek, Ruah in Jewish, and Prana in Sanskrit are defined in different languages as the source of sound energy. This manifests as the continuity between the wind and the soul swish.
